Objective problems can't justify recent space failures - Medvedev
GORKI. Aug 14 (Interfax) - Objective problems facing the Russian space industry cannot justify the recent series of abortive satellite launches, said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
Medvedev said on Tuesday at a meeting that centered on problems facing the space industry that tageing production facilities, 90% of which have been in operation for more than 20 years, are among the objective problems facing this sector. The electronic component is too weak, "which is a mischief for the space industry," he said.
The Russian space facilities are not fully provided with engineering materials they need, he also said. Another problem is a shortage of personnel and ageing personnel, Medvedev said.
"Nevertheless, what I have said cannot justify the failures we have had recently," he said.
