CSTO members to discuss emergency prevention in Minsk

MINSK. Aug 15 (Interfax) - The Coordination Council for Emergencies of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is due to meet in Minsk to discuss emergency prevention.

"The fifth meeting of the CSTO Coordination Council for Emergencies will take place in Minsk on August 16. The meeting will be attended by CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha and chief emergency officials from the Organization's member states," the Belarusian Emergency Situations Ministry told Interfax on Wednesday.

"The meeting attendees will discuss the implementation of the CSTO's main tasks and objectives in the area of emergency prevention and response and a draft legal act creating a collective emergency response system of the CSTO member states," the ministry said.

"The agenda will also include the creation of a single information software space and organization of humanitarian response by the CSTO member states," the ministry said.

Emergency ministers will also consider drafts of a working plan of the CSTO Coordination Council for Emergencies and a 2013 plan of exercises and other joint events aimed at improving cooperation between emergency agencies of the CSTO member states, the Belarusian Emergency Situations Ministry said.
