Kazchrome cuts chrome ore output 2.6% in H1
AKTOBE. Aug 16. (Interfax) - The Kazchrome company extracted 2.25 million tonnes of chrome ore in January-June 2012, a year-on-year decrease of 2.6%, the company said.
Production of sales-quality chrome ore declined by 8.4% to 1.666 million tonnes, manganese ore output rose 1.7% to 302,000 tonnes, ferrochrome by 2.8% to 551,000 tonnes, and ferroalloys by 0.3% to 719,000 tonnes
Manganese ore output grew in the reporting period by 2.9% to 493,000 tonnes, and manganese concentrate production was up 1.9% to 158,000 tonnes.
Kazchrome is part of ENRC and comprises four business unites: Donskoy Mining and Processing Complex (in the Aktobe Region, western Kazakhstan), Kazmarganets (in the Karaganda region, central Kazakhstan), Aksu Ferroalloy Plant (in the Pavlodar Region, northern Kazakhstan) and Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant (in the Aktobe Region).
