Aeroflot to continue on to Moscow at 11:15 p.m. following emergency landing in Iceland MSK

MOSCOW. Aug 16 (Interfax) - An Aeroflot-Russian Airlines jet that made an emergency landing in Iceland due to a suspected bomb threat will continue on to Moscow at 11:15 p.m. Moscow time, the airline told Interfax.

The passengers will be provided with food and drinks while awaiting departure, it said.

Meanwhile, a source in the Moscow air traffic control service told Interfax the same plane would continue the flight if no bomb was found. Only the crew will change, he said.

"There is a certain regime for work and rest in effect for the crews. The crew that landed the plane in Iceland will fly to Moscow soon. A replacement crew will go to Iceland. The plane is completely airworthy and there is no need for a replacement aircraft," the source said.

"An anonymous call claiming a bomb was on board was made while the plane was en route from New York to Moscow, and the captain decided to make an emergency landing. The plane touched down successfully, and the examination of passengers and luggage started," an airline representative told Interfax.

Two hundred passengers were on board the aircraft.
