Russia regrets UN Security Council's refusal to extend observer mission in Syria
NEW YORK (UN). Aug 16 (Interfax) - Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin has expressed regret at the UN Security Council's refusal to extend the international monitoring mission in Syria.
"We regret that the observers' mandate has not been extended," the diplomat said.
He added that the council's permanent "five" - Russia, China, the United States, France and Britain - and key countries of the region will hold a meeting on Syria tomorrow.
