Georgian citizen suspected of plotting attempted murder of high-ranking military officer

SUKHUMI. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Prosecutors from the Ochamrinsky district of Abkhazia have opened a criminal case against Georgian citizen Zurab Toradze, who is suspected of plotting to murder a high-ranking Abkhaz military officer, the press service for the Abkhaz Prosecutor General's Office told Interfax on Tuesday.

Toradze, a resident of Ukraine, who has a previous conviction for extortion, was plotting to assassinate Colonel Lizbert Potskhor-ogly, the head of the Abkhaz Defense Ministry's Vostok operative unit, the source said.

Toradze was hired by residents of Georgia, whose names were not disclosed in the interests of the investigation, the press service said.
