Russia cuts fertilizer production 1.4% in 7M

MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Russia reduced mineral fertilizer production by 1.4% year-on-year to 10.792 million tonnes in January-July 2012, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported.

Nitrogen fertilizer output rose 1.7% to 4.777 million tonnes, phosphate fertilizer production fell 9.2% to 2.34 million tonnes, and potash output declined 4% to 4.191 million tonnes in the seven months.

Ammonia production was down by 3.5% to 8.053 million tonnes, while sulfuric acid output grew 4% to 6.49 million tonnes.

Russia produced 2.2% more soda ash at 1.659 million tonnes, and it turned out 6.8% more caustic soda at 630,300 tonnes.
