Police find bodies of four people likely killed by flood in Krasnodar Territory village - Interior Ministry Main Department
KRASNODAR. Aug 22 (Interfax) - The police have information on four victims of the flood that occurred in the village of Novomikhailovsky, Tuapse district, in the earl hours of Wednesday, the press service for the Interior Ministry's Main Department for the Krasnodar Territory told Interfax.
The bodies are now being identified.
The press service for the Krasnodar Territory's administration earlier reported that the flood in the village of Novomikhailovsky was likely caused by a storm.
"The village of Novomikhailovsky, Tuapse district, was flooded due to the rise of the water levels if the river of Nechepsukho in the early hours of August 22. There is information that the emergency was caused by a storm. The water levels ion the river reached 2.10 - 2.50 meters," the report says.
Local residents and tourists were promptly notified of the disaster, and many people were able to evacuate their cars. Information on the destruction and damage done by the flood is currently being determined.
The Krasnodar Territory's Governor Alexander Tkachyov said on Twitter that the warnings system had worked well. The Emergency Situations Ministry and the administration of the Tuapse district earlier said the same.
