Moscow's low temperature falls short of 1976 record by one degree
MOSCOW. Aug 22 (Interfax) - The early Wednesday morning was the coldest in the Moscow region since the beginning of the summer 2012, the Moscow Hydrometeorological Bureau told Interfax.
"The main weather station at the VVTs center registered just +5.5 degrees Celsius in the early morning hours," a source said.
According to weather officials, this is just 0.9 degrees warmer than on August 22, 1976 (+4.6 degrees).
"The Moscow record was not broken but it was much colder in the Moscow region. In Volokolamsk, the temperature fell as low as plus 1.9 degrees, in Klin plus 2.2 degrees, and Dmitrov plus 3.1 degrees Celsius," the source said.
Such cold nights are not expected in August anymore, he said.
On Wednesday it will be dry, sunny and cool in the Moscow region. In the afternoon, the air temperature in Moscow will rise to plus 19 degrees Celsius.
