KRASNODAR, Russia. Aug 23 (Interfax) - The administration of the Krasnodar territory said on Thursday that 60% of those whom a recent flood in the local district of Tuapse left without water had water supply for them normalized and that water tankers were trying to take care of the rest.
A spokesman for the press center set up to cover the flood told Interfax that 30 water tankers were supplying water for all three stricken villages - Novomikhailovsky, Lermontovo and Tenginka.
"Yesterday 60 tonnes was handed out. Today 45 tonnes has been handed out already. That is enough - it's been calculated with an excess," he said. A base operated by volunteers was set up near Novomikhailovsky to accept relief for the stricken population, the spokesman said.
"Trucks have brought more than 5,000 toiletry kits and as many food packages. One thousand items of bed linen, blankets and 300 camp beds have been handed out," he said.
Novomikhailovsky, which is a resort, was hit hardest, the spokesman said. It was estimated that 15 private houses were damaged in Lermontovo, which is also a resort, and eight in Tenginka.
