FSB stops operations of extremist organization in Chelyabinsk region

CHELYABINSK. Aug 22 (Interfax) - The Chelyabinsk regional department of the Federal Security Service (FSB) is trying to identify members of Spiritual Clan Power - Rus, an organization banned in the region, its press service reports.

A criminal case under Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of "inciting hatred or enmity and insulting human dignity" was launched in relation to the launch of a web site carrying materials about the activities of the organization which was declared extremist by the Moscow region court on April 5, 2011 and also by a Supreme Court judgment of July 12, 2011.

"So far the criminal case has been launched in relation to the launch of a Web site, but operative measures continue to identify members of the organization and the victims," the press service of the FSB department said.

According to its knowledge, a high-ranking member of the banned organization lives in the region publishing literature and supporting a special website about its activities.

One more key figure calling himself a Cossack captain propagates the activities of the organization, recruits new members and involves people in its events.

According to the FSB department, the organization set up three temples in the region, two of them in the grounds of an industrial facility in Yuzhnouralsk.

Investigators said that the procedure of "knighting" implied reading and writing a thesis on the philosophy of teaching the employment of psychological techniques suppressing the will of the reader.

Novices were subjected to physical trials that left long-lasting bruises on their bodies. Members were also bound to make donations to the organization.

"Most of the people passing the physical and moral trials with time developed a deformed imagination and distorted perception of reality, making it difficult for them to return to real life," the press release says.
