Russia, China to tighten border control for time of APEC summit
KHABAROVSK. Aug 27 (Interfax) - Far Eastern border guards together with their Chinese colleagues will adopt additional security measures for the time of the APEC summit in Vladivostok, the PR group of the FSB border department for Khabarovsk territory and the Jewsh Autonomous District ireported on Monday.
Border guards from the two countries have conducted joint training and established contacts with the regional authorities, including the protection of the aircraft of heads of state and governments arriving for the summit.
"The air entry point in Khabarovsk is supplied with the latest equipment for border and other types of control," the report says.
Interaction with the Khabarovsk representative office of the Russian Foreign Ministry has been established on questions of receiving officials and delegations.
"On the whole the situation on the state border is stable and predictable," the report says.
Only one illegal crossing of the Russian-Chinese border has been recorded this month thanks to the interdepartmental cooperation of the two countries. In August 2011 there were nine such cases.
