Dead militants were involved in attack on policeman's funeral - Ingush leader
ROSTOV-ON-DON. Aug 28 (Interfax) - Security services have killed or detained several persons involved in the detonation of a bomb at a police officer's funeral in the Malgobek district of Ingushetia, republic leader Yunus-Bek Yevkurov said on Tuesday.
Eight people were killed and another 15 were injured in the August 19 blast.
"The republic continues taking measures to find and neutralize the people responsible for masterminding and committing the terrorist attack during a policeman's funeral on August 19. The special services have reported that several such people were eliminated or detained on Tuesday. The information available confirms that these persons were immediately involved in masterminding and staging this terrorist attack," Yevkurov said.
"The mastermind of the terrorist attack, Doku Umarov, and people responsible for plotting the attack are not local residents. These monsters do not live here, but those who helped them, their accomplices, are residents. We are investigating this situation. The operations will continue until all persons involved in this crime are identified and neutralized," the Ingush leader said.
Three militants were killed and several others were detained during a security operation in the town of Malgobek and in the Malgobek district of Ingushetia on Tuesday.
