MTS Ukraine net profits jump 57% in Q2
KYIV. Aug 28 (Interfax) - JSC MTS Ukraine saw net profits climb 57.4% year-on-year to UAH 509.5 million, the company reported.
Company sales revenues rose 7.2% to UAH 2.398 billion in Q2, OIBDA (operating income before depreciation and amortization) 14.8% to UAH 1.244 billion.
Monthly ARPU (average revenue per user) was UAH 40.6 (up 9.3%), and MOU (minutes of use) was 611 (up 1.7%).
As of July 1, the operator's subscriber base amounted to 19.6 million users, 1.3% more than at the start of the quarter and 4.5% more year-on-year.
The company's capital investments in the first half of this year ran to $40 million. Revenue from data-transfer services amounted to UAH 363 million for the half, up 11% year-on-year.
The main factors driving Q2 numbers growth, MTS Ukraine said, were an growing subscriber base, continued growth in the use of voice and added-value (messaging, content, etc.) services, and increasing revenues, including from state-network roaming during the time Ukraine hosted the European soccer championship.
MTS Ukraine is a wholly owned subsidiary of OJSC Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) . The operator's network covers more than 95% of the territory of Ukraine - an area in which 99% of the country's citizens reside. The company is licensed to provide GSM-900/1800 and CDMA-450 mobile services, fixed-line, inter-city, and international communications, along with international roaming services.
