Deposit rates at top ten Russian banks hold at 10.55%

MOSCOW. Aug 30 (Interfax) - The top average ruble-deposit rate at Russia's ten leading banks by deposits remained at 10.545% in the third ten days of August, the Central Bank said.

The CB started to monitor deposit rates at the ten banks in July 2009. Rates averaged at 14.85% at the time and peaked at 15.02% in the second ten days of that month.

Rates were at a low of 7.88% at the end of June 2011 before rising 1.53 pp to 9.14% by the end of December. They have risen another 1.135 pp this year.

The ten banks that the CB is monitoring are Sberbank , VTB24 , Bank of Moscow , Raiffeisenbank, Gazprombank , Russian Standard Bank , Alfa-Bank , Uralsib , Promsvyazbank and Rosselkhozbank . Russian Standard Bank replaced Rosbank in the top ten at the beginning of August, causing the average deposit rate to jump 0.48 pp in the first week of the month.
