Saint-Gobain to launch EUR65 mln plasterboard factory in Bashkortostan in 2015
UFA. Aug 30. (Interfax) - France's Saint-Gobain intends to open a plasterboard factory costing EUR65 million in Bashkortostan in 2015, the internal Russian republic's State Construction and Architecture Committee said.
The plant, capacity 34-45 million square meters of plasterboard, will be built in the Karmaskalinsk district and will receive raw material from the Antonov quarry, capacity 350,000-450,000 tonnes per year. The quarry will cost EUR10 million-15 million to set up.
The company has so far spent 200 million rubles on the project.
Bashkortostan and Saint-Gobain signed a protocol on the project back in 2007, but the construction was put on hold in 2009 due to the financial crisis. Saint-Gobain acquired licenses to the Antonov and Votikeyev gypsum rock deposits.
Saint-Gobain has nine construction materials plants in Russia.
