Dollar edges up, euro edges down on Mon
MOSCOW. Sept 3 (Interfax) - The dollar edged up and the euro posted slight decreases on the MICEX on Monday, while the ruble was static against the bi-currency basket, supported by a raise in capital markets but pressured due to dominant currency purchases amid heightened ruble liquidity.
The dollar finished out the day at 32.37 rubles/$1, up 2 kopecks over Friday's close.
The euro stood at 40.6525 rubles/EUR1, down 2.75 kopecks.
The bi-currency basket ($0.55 and EUR0.45) remained stable at 36.1 rubles.
The Central Bank lowered its official dollar exchange rate for the first time in seven business days on Monday, by 14.98 kopecks to 32.4171 rubles/$1. It raised its official euro exchange rate for the fifth day in a row, by 3.31 kopecks to 40.758 rubles/EUR1.
The dollar averaged down 5.01 kopecks to 32.398 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals on the MICEX. Overall trading volume was $2.817 billion.
The euro averaged up 1.77 kopecks to 40.7313 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals on the MICEX, and it averaged down 1.04 kopecks to 40.726 rubles/EUR1 in Tom in volume of EUR397.5 million, including EUR189.8 million Today and EUR207.7 million Tom.
The MosPrime rate for overnight loans fell 22 basis points to 4.95% per annum.
