Lukoil plans to wrap up modernization of lubricant production at Romanian refinery by yr-end

MOSCOW. Sept 4 (Interfax) - LLK-International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Russian oil major Lukoil , plans to invest $2.5 in the modernization of lubricants production at the oil refinery Petrotel-Lukoil in Romania and complete it by the end of this year or early next, according to the company's corporate journal, which cites the general manager of LLK Lubricants Eastern Europe, Michail Weiss.

Investment last year amounted to $3.5 million, Weiss said.

The company is investing in an oil-blending installation to make it fully automated, he said. Money is also being put into packaging equipment and storage overhaul.

The company will subsequently begin producing the full line of Genesis oils. LLK-International began this summer to produce new-generation Genesis engine oils. For the European market, the company has begun making Genesis Premium 5W40 and 5W30 oils. These new products are produced at Petrotel-Lukoil.

Lukoil Genesis engine oils differ in their lower sulphur, phosphorus, and sulfate ash content, and meet environmental standards applied to lubricants for euro-5 and 6 compliant engines.

In Russia, the product will be used for the priming of foreign automobiles built in the country.
