FGC says Russky Island power facilities ready for APEC summit

"FGC UES has ensured the complete readiness of power facilities in the grid for reliable power supplies for the APEC summit," the company said in a statement.

Under a plan for the operation of grid infrastructure, bypass and repair crew inspection routes have been mapped out, and special equipment and emergency backups have been put in place. The personnel of the Primorye division of Main Electricity Grids of the East has been put under a special operations regime. The division has also been outfitted with a mobile situation center to collect and analyze information at locations where abnormal incidents occur.

The company said that under the sub-program for the Development of Vladivostok as a Center of International Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region of the federal program for the Economic and Social Development of the Far East and Baikal Region to 2013, FGC launched eight mainline power grid facilities - substations and power transmission lines - in 2010-2011.

The company is now building a power system cluster with an actively adaptable grid on Russky Island. The innovative technology and latest equipment that have been used will ensure reliable power supplies for summit venues, and in future for the infrastructure of the Far East Federal University and residents of the island part of Vladivostok, FGC said in the press release.
