China against reforms forced on Syria from abroad - minister
BEIJING. Sept 5 (Interfax) - China believes Syria needs to embark on political reforms as soon as possible but is against such reforms being forced on the Arab country from abroad, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi told a news conference after a meeting in Beijing with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
China and Russia have on three occasions blocked draft UN Security Council resolutions that were proposed by Western countries and would have given the go-ahead to rigorous action against the Syrian regime of President Bashar al-Assad.
