Russia receives 35 proposals on free trade zones
RUSSKY ISLAND (Vladivostok). Sept 6 (Interfax) - Russia has received 35 proposals from different countries on the establishment of free trade zones, including from China and India, Economic Development Minister Andrei Belousov said at a briefing following the meeting of APEC foreign and trade ministers on Russky Island on Thursday.
"Russia is very actively participating in talks also at other phases of development for free trade zones. Russia has so far received 35 proposals on setting up free trade zones with different countries, including BRICS countries, such as China and India," he said.
The minister also said that on Wednesday an agreement was signed between the CES and the Vietnamese Trade Ministry indicating the readiness to start talks about a free trade zone between the Customs Union and Vietnam. "The issue of establishing free trade zones, and I want to underline this, is no longer a prerogative for Russia, it is the prerogative of three countries [Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan]," Belousov said.
