Putin: Confirmation of list of ecologic goods an important APEC summit achievement
RUSSKY ISLAND. Sept 10 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he considers the compilation and confirmation of a list of ecologic goods an important outcome of the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.
"An important achievement was the confirmation of a list of ecologic goods. Work on the implementation of agreement on reducing duties on ecological products was not easy. But in the end we were able to agree on an extremely representative list of such goods, which contains fifty-four designations (groups of goods)," Putin said during a press conference at the end of the summit.
A result of this sort was not forthcoming in ten years of work at the World Trade Organization, the president pointed out.
"We were able to get this done in recent months and, personally speaking, the work on bringing this list to its logical conclusion and final agreement went on right here during the course of our meetings," Putin said.
