Gazprom to speed up Eastern Gas Program to increase gas exports to APR
MOSCOW. Sept 11 (Interfax) - Gazprom will quicken the pace of the implementation of the Eastern Gas Program in order to be able to increase gas exports to countries in the Asia-Pacific Region, official company representative Sergei Kupriyanov said at a briefing.
"The APR is a dynamic market. Gazprom plans to equalize gas supply to the APR with that of Europe and maybe even increase it," he said.
Kupriyanov said that a decision for Gazprom's eastern development should be approved an upcoming meeting of the gas giant's managing committee. The decision will then be approved by the company's board of directors.
When asked whether this means speeding up the development of fields in Eastern Russia, Kupriyanov answered affirmatively but did not specify any particular fields.
He added that Gazprom signed several agreements during the APEC summit, which foresee the company's active development in APR countries. For instance, Gazprom will develop on the Japanese market, "which is significant like all APR countries".
According to the company's program for Russia's East, Gazprom plans to develop the oil bank of the Chayandinskoye field in 2014 and commission gas deposits there in 2016. After the launch of this field, the company will start development of the Kovykta field.
