Gazprom to open office in Brussels soon
SOCHI, Russia. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Russia's Gazprom will "right now" open a representative office in Brussels, the company chief executive, Alexei Miller, told Interfax.
Alexei Golubnichy will head the office, Miller confirmed.
Gazprom began working on opening an office in the EU capital last year, soon after the September searches of the offices of its subsidiaries and partners. Changes in Gazprom's charter concerning the company's office in Brussels were registered in December 2011. However, there had not been any news on the development of the office until now.
Industry sources spoke of intrigues concerning the appointment of the head of the office and alternative candidates for the post. However, Miller confirmed that Golubnichy will occupy this post.
Golubnichy, born in 1962 in Moscow, joined Gazprom as head of Mostransgaz in 2002. He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and worked for a long time at the headquarters and foreign missions of the Soviet Foreign Ministry.
