Aeroflot to sue Sheremetyevo for compensation due to power outages

MOSCOW. Sept 12 (Interfax) - OJSC Aeroflot - Russian Airlines intends to file a lawsuit against OJSC Sheremetyevo International Airport for compensation and inconveniences inflicted on its passengers, an official Aeroflot representative told Interfax.

"We intend to file a lawsuit for compensation for the airline's activities and inconveniences caused to passengers," he said, adding that Aeroflot has not yet calculated its costs.

Aeroflot and Sheremetyevo might strike an out-of-court agreement, but if the airport refuses, the airline will sue, he said.

"Aeroflot fully places responsibility for today's delay in the airline's work and the inconvenience brought on passengers on OJSC Sheremetyevo International Airport, which is the owner and managing company of terminal D," Aeroflot said in a statement.

As reported, 18 Aeroflot flights were delayed due to power outages at Sheremetyevo on Wednesday morning. A power surge at the airport resulted in electricity outages in terminals D, E and F. Terminal D is currently running on generators.
