Russian missile cruiser to conduct exercises in Arctic
MOSCOW. Sept 12 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Northern Fleet's missile cruiser Peter the Great will conduct a series of exercises in the Arctic zone of the Northern Sea Route, the Defense Ministry has announced.
"The Peter the Great is departing from its home base of Severomorsk and will head to the Arctic zone of the Northern Sea Route . Here the ship will do a series of exercises, entered on its combat training schedule," a Russian Navy spokesman told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.
The Peter the Great's journey complies with the Russian Maritime Doctrine on Russia's resumed naval presence in strategic regions of the world ocean," he said.
