Dvorkovich opposes dividing Gazprom into several companies

ULAN-UDE. Sept 14 (Interfax) - It would be inappropriate to divide Gazprom into several companies based on area of activity with the aim of raising the state-owned gas major's work efficiency, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich believes.

Dvorkovich was responding to a journalist's question at the international economic conference 'New Economy - New Approaches' in the framework of the Baikal Economic Forum in Ulan-Ude on Friday.

Experts have regularly revisited the idea of divvying up Gazprom into independent production companies and spinning off a transport component from the state-owned company.
