Russia has chance to broaden influence in Middle East, North Africa - Zyuganov
MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax) - The U..S. political defeat in the Middle East and North Africa will have an inevitable effect on the presidential election in the United States, Russian Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov said at the Monday meeting of the party's Central Committee Secretariat.
"We are witnessing a bad defeat of the American policy in North Africa and the Middle East, and this defeat will inevitably tell on the outcome of the U.S. presidential election," he said.
"The U.S. Ambassador to Libya was killed like a dog, they fired a grenade launcher shot. And he was the chief expert in the Libyan revolution - a knowledgeable and professional man who met with militants. But he reaped what he sowed," the party press service quoted Zyuganov.
The latest events show that "a big war is in the air," he said. "Tensions flare from Indonesia to London and the Al Qaeda black banner flies everywhere. The sole spark of the Innocence of Muslims film was enough to ignite a global fire."
"Russia has a chance to considerably broaden its opportunities and influence in North Africa and the Middle East," he said.
