India has no immediate plans to seek fines for possible Vikramaditya transfer delay - source
MOSCOW. Sept 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian exporters hope that India will not impose any penalties in light of a possible decision to postpone the transfer of the aircraft carrier Vikramaditya, the former Russian heavy aircraft carrying cruiser Admiral Gorshkov, to the customer by several months.
"The fact that the aircraft carrier's handover will most likely be postponed due to problems with the power generating system detected during the sea-going trials has been treated with understanding by our Indian partners. As far as we know, they have no plans to impose any penalties," a high-ranking source in a Russian weapons export organization told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.
The Indian partners are interested in seeing all problems with the ship's steam generators fixed as soon as possible, he said.
Russia will naturally pay for all of the repair efforts.
