Housing construction in Russia up 9.4% in August

MOSCOW. Sept 19 (Interfax) - A total of 4.3 million square meters of housing were completed in Russia in August 2012, 9.4% more than in August 2011, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

A total of 29.5 million square meters of housing were completed in January-August 2012, 4.7% more than in the same period last year.

Construction volume grew 0.8% year-on-year in August to 524.3 billion rubles and 3.2% in January-August to 3.103 trillion rubles.
