Russia supports Kyrgyz full membership in Customs Union, CES - Putin- Atambayev statement

BISHKEK. Sept 20 (Interfax) - Kyrgyzstan and Russia are set for Eurasian economic integration, Presidents Vladimir Putin and Almazbek Atambayev said in a statement they published at the Bishkek negotiations on Thursday.

"The presidents reaffirm the ambition of Kyrgyzstan and Russia to develop Eurasian economic integration and their understanding of the need for reforming the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC), optimizing executive bodies and strengthening the Eurasian Economic Commission," the statement runs.

"Russia intends to render active support to Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space as a full member," it says.

"The sides will work on the soonest entry into force and implementation of the intergovernmental agreement settling Kyrgyz debts to Russia and will concentrate on large mutually beneficial electric power projects in Kyrgyzstan," it runs.

"Measures will be taken to intensify cooperation in the modernization and development of the Kyrgyz oil and gas industry with the assistance of Gazprom, the mining industry, production, processing and promotion of agricultural products on both national markets, banking and other promising sectors of the Kyrgyz economy," the statement says.

Kyrgyzstan and Russia will encourage investments and build up the role of the intergovernmental commission in fostering bilateral cooperation.

Kyrgyzstan and Russia will broaden cultural and humanitarian relations and their interaction at international organizations, among them the CSTO and the SCO.
