Australian TV reporter stopped at Minsk airport, equipment seized - Belarusian Association of Journalists

MINSK. Sept 21 (Interfax) - Amos Roberts, a journalist from the Australian TV channel SBS, was stopped by Belarusian authorities while crossing the border checkpoint at the Minsk international airport on Friday, the Belarusian Association of Journalists has reported.

"Equipment and memory cards are being seized from Roberts at the airport," it said on Friday.

"The journalist encountered problems leaving the country at the customs checkpoint. He has TV cameras, a computer, memory cards, and other data storage devices," it said.

"The journalist has a Belarusian Foreign Ministry accreditation. He has worked in the country for one week and planned to depart from Belarus today," it said.

Interfax has yet to obtain official comments on this information from Belarusian authorities.
