Ruble slips against dollar, euro in first MICEX trading Monday
MOSCOW. Sept 24 (Interfax) - The dollar and the euro opened the week's MICEX trading on the rise as the ruble slipped against the bicurrency basket amid slumping oil prices and stock indices worldwide.
The dollar opened at 31.2-31-27 rubles/$1 - averaging 31.24 rubles/$1 in the first minute of trading - which was 20 kopecks over Friday close and 7 kopecks above the official exchange rate for Monday.
The euro began the trading day at 40.45 rubles/EUR1, 7 kopecks up from its last close but 4 kopecks under the exchange rat.
The bicurrency basket ($0.55 and EUR 0.45) was up 14 kopecks at 35.38 rubles.
