FAS thinks capacity price in Volga free-flow zone inflated, price cap could lie ahead - sources

MOSCOW. Sept 25 (Interfax) - Russia's Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) wants a reevaluation of the results of competitive capacity selection in the Volga free-flow zone, thinking the capacity price too high, and that there could be a price cap on the horizon, several energy-market sources have told Interfax.

"The FAS raises this issue in line with the law for consideration by the supervisory board of Market Council on Friday," one source said, noting that the FAS has observed signs of price manipulation during competitive capacity selection in that zone.

If those signs are borne out, then the Volga zone will be seeing a price cap of 127,837.24 rubles per megawatt a month, another source said.
