Russian air defense developments are better than foreign analogues - Rogozin
MOSCOW. Sept 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian developments in the sphere of air defense systems are better than the best foreign analogues, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said.
"We had and we still have developments in which we are not only on the same level, but also ahead of the whole planet, for example, aerospace interception systems. Our air defense systems such as S-300P and S-300V have the best characteristics, the even more powerful S-400 systems are being supplied to the army, and work is being done on S-500 systems," Rogozin said in an interview that will be published in the Wednesday edition of Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
The new developments are being integrated in the aerospace defense system, Rogozin said.
"Long-range radar stations, which can see thousands of kilometers ahead and can process very small targets flying at space speeds are on permanent duty in the aerospace defense system," Rogozin said.
The air defense systems of the Ground Troops are also among the best "in the words in terms of their equipment and organization," he said.
"A prototype of the fifth-generation fighter is now being tested. There are very interesting projects in combat ship-building. We are somewhat behind on hypersound, but serious headway has recently been made here," Rogozin said.
Among the new developments, Rogozin mentioned new digital radio stations for the army manufactured by a defense enterprise in Zelenograd, Moscow region.
The S-300 and S-400 surface-to-air systems were developed and are manufactured by enterprises of the concern PVO Almaz-Antei.
