Privatization plans for ports, airports to be pegged to sector-development strategies - Rosimuschestvo
MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - Plans for the privatization of ports and airports will be linked with sector strategies for their development Deputy Economic Development Minister and head of federal state property fund Rosimuschestvo Olga Dergunova said at a meeting of the State Duma properties committee.
"We are discussing the necessity of formulating plans for privatization tied to sector strategies. So, together with federal agencies, we have to talk through what development views they have. For instance, the Transport Ministry is working on a strategy for the development of seaports before 2030," Dergunova said.
As to the matter of massive privatization, Dergunova said that the decision has been made "that we have sit down with profile ministries and group those objects that singly stand in these plans." "Obviously, there were reasons for the government putting all river ports in the privatization plan. But we understand that the time has come to sit down with the Transport Ministry and Rosrechflot and look at how justified it is to privatize these assets separately. It is not advisable to think about some one program together with the support of the government," she said.
Dergunova pointed out that in the privatization plan is included a rather large number of airports, some of which are not in the best condition. "The question arises of if an airport is not needed by municipalities, but Rosaviatsia is working on a strategy for mid-range flights, perhaps the time has come to return to the question of how justified it is to include these facilities in the privatization plan," she said.
As one alternative to selling, she said, maybe the issue of transferal into trust management will be revisited.
