Russia's arms exports could exceed $13 Bln in 2012 - service
KYIV. Sept 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's weapons exports are expected to stand at more than $13 billion in this year, Konstantin Biryulin, deputy director of the Federal Service for Military-Technological Cooperation, said.
"Last year's level will be reached," he told Interfax-AVN on the sidelines of Kyiv's Aerosvit-2013 aerospace show.
Up to $13.2 billion worth of Russian weapons was exported in 2011, he said.
The service is "certain that the planned targets will be achieved," Biryulin said.
However, it would be inappropriate to name any exact value of Russian arms exports in 2012, the official said, adding that these figures "could change."
The state controlled corporation Rostekhnologii (Russian Technologies) announced earlier that Russian weapons producers were increasing their exports of military-purpose products this year.
"Exports of Russian military-purpose products exceeded $6.5 billion in the first half of 2012, a 14% increase from the same period the year before," the corporation said in a press release.
