Russia, EU discuss Europe's aid to Russian NGOs - diplomat

BRUSSELS. Sept 28 (Interfax) - European assistance to Russian non-governmental organizations is a topic for bilateral consultations between Russia and the European Union, Russia's envoy to the EU Vladimir Chizhov told Interfax.

"The EU indeed helps some Russian NGOs, mainly non-political, and does not hide this fact. Of course, we discuss this in the format of expert consultations on human rights," Chizhov said.

The diplomat also noted that Russia closely watch how such EU actions comply with the Russian legislation. "Naturally, we follow the compliance with Russian laws in this respect," he said.
