UN Security Council should discuss consequences of unilateral sanctions - Lavrov
NEW YORK. Sept 29 (Interfax) - Russia believes the UN Security Council should discuss negative effects of unilateral sanctions that some states or groups of states impose on others, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"It is time for the Security Council to talk about consequences of unilateral sanctions that a state or a group of states imposes [on other states] bypassing the UN to promote their political ends. We have no doubts that such sanctions, especially if they are exterritorial, weaken the international community's unity and undermine efficiency of its efforts," Lavrov said at an ongoing UN General Assembly session in New York.
