Ukraine's balance of payments surplus down 24% in August - NBU
KYIV. Oct 1 (Interfax) - Ukraine's balance of payments surplus in August 2012 came to $615 million, which is 24% down on the previous month, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has reported on its official website.
The current account deficit in August grew by 17% on July 2012, to $1.531 billion, while capital and financial transactions account surplus rose only by 1%, to $2.146 billion.
In August 2012, the balance of payments surplus soared by 2.9 times from August 2011, from $215 million, and the deficit of the current account climbed by 57.2%, from $974 million.
