RTS tops 1500 on Spain news, U.S. data
MOSCOW. Oct 1 (Interfax) - The RTS stock index topped 1500 on the first day of Q4, following the world markets up on the back of the results of Spanish bank stress tests and U.S. data.
The RTS closed the day up 2.6% at 1513.81. The MICEX stock index grew 2.2% to 1490.21. Ruble-denominated MICEX-RTS shares gained up to 4.6%.
There were gains for VTB (+1.4%), Gazprom (+2%), Gazprom Neft (+1.2%), Lukoil (+1.6%), NOVATEK (+4.6%), MMC Norilsk Nickel (+1.7%), Polyus Gold (+0.6%), Rosneft (+1.2%), Rostelecom (+3.2%), Sberbank (+1.5%), Surgutneftegas (+3.2%), Tatneft (+3.2%) and Federal Grid Co (+2.8%).
Second-tier advancers included Mosenergo (+5.3%), Mechel (+4.2%), Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) (+4%), Inter-District Grid Company Holding (IDGC Holding) (3.8%), Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) (+3.7%) and TGK-1 (+3.2%).
There were losses for Sollers (-0.9%), O2TV (-0.9%) and Mosenergosbyt (-0.6%).
Combined trading volume on the main MICEX-RTS market was 31.158 billion rubles, of which 8.889 billion rubles in Sberbank ordinary shares. Standard market turnover was $57.753 million and Classica - $4.138 million.
