Forces wishing to turn CoE into arena of confrontation lose - deputy foreign minister

MOSCOW. Oct 2 (Interfax) - Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) deputies who wanted to shift Russia's monitoring to the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers have lost, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko told Interfax.

"Let us analyze the situation. Obviously, this is the victory of common sense, and those who wanted to turn the Council of Europe into an arena of confrontation are defeated," he said.

The PACE lacked votes on Tuesday to shift Russia's monitoring to the CoE Council of Ministers.
