Georgian Dream is familiar with Medvedev's statement, but finds dialogue with United Russia premature

TBILISI. Oct 3 (Interfax) - The coalition Georgian Dream is informed about the statement made by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who said the Russian party United Russia is ready for dialogue with Georgian Dream, which will apparently win the parliamentary elections in Georgia.

"We paid attention to the statement made by the Russian prime minister, but it is now too early to speak about beginning dialogue because we need to wait for the final information from the Central Elections Commission on the elections and resolve many other issues," Georgian Dream press officer Maya Panjikidze told Interfax.

It was reported earlier that Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev expects the Georgian election outcome to diversify the national political landscape and to bring more constructive forces to the parliament.

"Election reports coming from Georgia show that people of that country want change," he told Russian reporters who asked his opinion, as the United Russia leader, of the opposition victory in Georgia.

"If these results prove real, Georgia will have a more diverse political landscape. That should be welcomed because, probably, more constructive and responsible forces will appear in the parliament," he said.

"United Russia, the leading political force in Russia, is ready for the dialogue on the future of Russian-Georgian relations," Medvedev said.

He noted that United Russia "has always stayed in touch with various political forces of Georgia."

Georgian Dream leader Bidzina Ivanishvili said before the parliamentary elections that he will make efforts to normalize the relations with Russia if he wins the elections. He said the process may take several years, but the first step could be an agreement on the return of Georgian products to the Russian market.
