Sunken Kolskaya drilling rig found in Sea of Okhotsk

MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - The Kolskaya drilling platform which sank in the Sea of Okhotsk in December 2011, has been found, the Mezhregiontruboprovodstroy company, the contactor under the geological prospecting project, told Interfax on Wednesday.

"The self-lifting drilling rig Kolskaya was spotted at a depth of 1,055 meters on September 30. It lies on the seabed almost at the point where it sank, which was documented by the crews of the rescue ship involved in the operation to save the platform personnel back in December," the company said.

The platform had been discovered by the Kendrick search vessel fitted out with deep-water search equipment.
