Publication of prison staff's personal details a crime - Georgian prison ministry
TBILISI. Oct 3 (Interfax) - The Georgian Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance said the publication of personal details of the personnel serving at Tbilisi Prison No. 8 in the Asaval-Dasavali newspaper in an article titled, "You Must Know the Butcher," is a crime punishable by law.
"Point 2 of Article 41 of the Georgian Constitution says that official information connected with a citizen's health, financial status and other private issues, must not be made accessible to anyone without this person's consent," the ministry said.
According to the Georgian Criminal Code "the illegal acquisition of private secrets and their dissemination is punishable by law."
The Asaval-Dasavali newspaper published on Wednesday the full names, telephone numbers and addresses of the personnel working at Prison No. 8, where instances of torture and violence against inmates were reported. The revelation shocked the world.
