Lavrov upset by Western refusal to condemn terror attacks in Syria at UN Security Council

ISLAMABAD. Oct 4 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov regrets the UN Security Council's refusal to condemn terrorist attacks in Syria.

"I cannot help recalling the regretful fact that our Western partners at the UN Security Council have been declining to make a statement condemning the terrorist acts in Syria for several months," he told a Thursday press conference after negotiations with Pakistani colleague Hina Rabbani Khar, in commenting on the latest terrorist acts in Aleppo.

"The UN Security Council invariably reacts to large terrorist attacks, condemns them and says there is no excuse for terrorism. It is alarming that our Western colleagues are dodging that now, in the context of terrorist activity in Syria," he said.

The Russian minister said that a new series of terrorist attacks in Aleppo claimed about 30 lives on Wednesday. "A reason is transboundary aspects of the Syrian crisis," he said.
