Irkutsk region boosts gold output 12% in 9M

IRKUTSK. Oct 4 (Interfax) - Russia's Irkutsk region boosted gold production 11.8% year-on-year in January-September 2012 to 15.467 tonnes, the region's natural resources department told Interfax.

This included 5.382 tonnes of vein gold, up 39%.

OJSC Vysochaishy (GV Gold) mined 3.843 tonnes of vein gold at the Golets Vysochaishy field, 26.8% more than in the same period of last year. Pervenets, a unit of Polyus Gold's Lenskaya Gold Mining subsidiary, boosted output 2.3-fold to 1.051 tonnes, but LLC Druza reduced production at the Nevskoye field 5.6% to 487 kg.

The region also produced 10.086 tonnes of alluvial gold, up 1.2% year-on-year. Polyus Gold's Lenzoloto subsidiary produced 5.599 tonnes of alluvial gold, mining cooperative CJSC Vitim - 1.9 tonnes, the Lena cooperative - 318 kg and LLC Grain Star - 402 kg.

The Irkutsk region produced 17.007 tonnes of gold in 2011, up 6.3% from 2010. This included 5.272 tonnes of vein gold, up 1%, and 11.735 tonnes of alluvial gold, 8.9% more than in 2011.
