Security forces preparing to raid militants' hideout in Buinaksk
ROSTOV-ON-DON. Oct 5 (Interfax) - Members of an armed group have been trapped inside an apartment on the fourth floor of a residential building in Buinaksk, Dagestan, a source in the republic's law enforcement agencies told Interfax.
"Presumably three militants were trapped on the fourth floor of a five-storey residential building, located at 4, Druzhba District, in the town of Buinaksk last night. They put up armed resistance to federal forces," he said.
"The counter-militant operation was launched at night. Tenants were evacuated from nearby houses. The militants were ordered to surrender, but they started to shoot. Special operations units are now preparing to raid the hideout," the source said.
Another source familiar with the situation told Interfax that a shootout was currently underway between federal forces and the militants.
