Udaltsov denies foreign sponsoring of Russian non-systemic opposition

MOSCOW. Oct 5 (Interfax) - Left Front leader Sergei Udaltsov has strongly denied foreign sponsoring of the protest movement, meetings with intermediaries from Georgia and intentions of the opposition to use force in the struggle for power alleged by the Anatomy of Protest 2 film aired by NTV on Friday.

"The NTV claims are a madman's delirium, nonsense," Udaltsov told Interfax.

He learned about the film content from Interfax as he said he did not see the film and does not plan to.

"NTV started claiming foreign sponsoring of the opposition protests back in spring. Now they allege the involvement of Georgian services, banker Borodin and so on. I will tell you outright: I stayed within the Russian borders for the past year, I did not communicate with oligarchs or security service men and I never heard the name Targamadze before," the Left Front leader said.

Udaltsov recalled that his home and the homes of other opposition leaders were searched in summer 2012. "They studied our financial documents and accounts if any one us had them. My home was searched very thoroughly: they did not find a kopeck, a ruble, a dollar or a euro," Udaltsov said.

Concerning the alleged plans to use force, he said, "We have always stood for a peaceful process. Our actions of the past few years have been peaceful and non-violent. We did not use force. That is our principle."

"They continue to defame and slander us. The airing of such films proves that the authorities are still refusing to have a dialogue with the opposition, which expresses the interests of millions of people. The situation is thus driven into a corner," the opposition member said.

"Our lawyers will consider the possibility of lawsuits vs. NTV. Any case of slander will be challenged at court," he said.

Former Bank of Moscow President Andrei Borodin is ready to sponsor the non-systemic opposition in Russia, judging by the Anatomy of Protest film NTV aired in the Russian Far East on Friday.

The film claimed that ex-head of the Georgian Parliament Defense and Security Committee Givi Targamadze was the intermediary and Left Front leader Sergei Udaltsov was a person boosting the protest movement in Russia.
