Deputy head of Social Security Fund suspected of pocketing 4 mln rubles - Interior Ministry

MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - The deputy head of the Russian Social Security Fund has become a suspect in a case of embezzlement of 4 million rubles from state coffers through fraud.

"Deputy chairman of the Social Security Fund and former deputy chief of the procurements' department of the fund are suspected of signing a fake state contract for repairs under which 4 million rubles were written off," Interfax was told at the Interior Ministry press center.

A ministry spokesman said that money assigned to the fund from the budget for stretching two cables and repairing a transformer substation is in question.

An Interior Ministry press officer said that the Moscow Unified Network Company had done the job a year earlier at its own expense.

"A criminal case of fraud has been launched in relation to the identified instance. Both suspects have been detained and placed under house arrest," the officer said.
